CBD for Rheumatoid Arthritis

CBD for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a common disorder affecting about 1.5 million people in the United States. It is A chronic inflammatory disorder that affects joints and other parts of the body. It can eventually cause cartilage breakdown, bone destruction, and joint deformity. It is an autoimmune disease that occurs due to an overactive immune system that mistakenly attacks body tissues. Instead of directly affecting the joints, RA affects the lining of our joints resulting in painful swelling. For those who have rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation is the top cause of joint pain and discomfort.

How can CBD help to relieve the symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis? Currently, there is no cure for treating RA. Doctors are presently treating the symptoms with medications like NSAIDs, Steroids, DMARDs for pain, and physical therapy to improve flexibility.  Fortunately for RA sufferers, the endocannabinoid system was discovered in the 1990s. This discovery has drawn a significant amount of interest in inflammatory diseases, including multiple sclerosis and RA. The interest in the body's endocannabinoid system is because of two cannabinoid receptors: CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are found in the brain. This receptor is associated with cognitive actions related to coordination, mood, thinking, memory, and appetite. The CB2 receptors, on the other hand, can be found in the immune system. These CB2 receptors are responsible for the body's response to pain and inflammation. People suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) have started to treat symptoms with CBD because of the ill effects painkillers have on our bodies; CBD has been proven to reduce chronic pain and discomfort in clinical studies. Some research has suggested that rather than just treating the symptoms, CBD may help prevent RA altogether.

There are multiple ways of taking CBD from tinctures, edibles, creams, and lotions. CBD Wild Leaf suggests that you use both the tincture oil and the topical ointment. CBD Tinctures work internally on the total system, and a topical lotion is targeted to painful joints. CBD Wild Leaf has two tinctures, 750mg and 1500mg, and two topicals. The two topical products for pain relief come in two forms. One is a convenient roll-on with 500mg of CBD per ounce. The other is a pump lotion that you massaged into the affected area containing 200mg of CBD per four ounces.

CBD Wild Leaf recommends you start with one complete stopper per day of the 750mg tincture to establish a safe, adequate amount for you. Remember the motto “start slow and increase as needed.” If more relief is needed, take two complete stoppers per day, one in the morning and one at night, or step up to the 1500mg. Most end up getting relief when they take CBD tincture under the tongue twice per day, holding it there for at least 60 seconds. Others with more severe pain go as high as 100mg twice or more per day to get complete relief. Remember, the risks associated with CBD are extremely low, and the benefits are high. There has not been a single case of overdose or addiction reported.

In conclusion, CBD can help RA sufferers with reducing pain and inflammation in the body and joints.
